Drilling chemistry — 4 technology areas
SVK manufactures drilling reagents across four areas: hydration inhibitors for borehole stability in clays; lignosulfonate thinners for rheology and filtration control; lubricants for the drill string and threaded connections; foam systems for aerated drilling. All 13 products — in-house production in Dnipro, with lab-tuned formulations for the specific drilling mud.

Rheology and filtration of drilling muds
Viscosity, filtration, and carrying capacity control is foundational to trouble-free drilling. FKhLS (ferrochrome lignosulfonate) works as a thinner in freshwater clay muds with thermal stability up to 180°C; KSSB (condensed sulfite-alcohol bard) — in mineralized systems; the polymer-humate reagent stabilizes rheology while inhibiting clay hydration; sulfonated asphalt reduces API filtration and strengthens borehole walls in permeable intervals.

Borehole stability in clay horizons
Clay swelling and wall sloughing are classic causes of stuck pipe and unplanned downtime. SVK offers four hydration inhibitors for different clay types: a polymer-silicate inhibitor forms a protective film on the walls; a polyamine inhibitor blocks interlayer hydration of montmorillonite clays; the polymer-humate reagent regulates water exchange in freshwater muds; a gilsonite micro-plugging inhibitor seals micropore channels in fractured intervals.

Lubricants and threaded connections
The drilling lubricant additive reduces the metal-to-rock friction coefficient by 40%; the heat-resistant version retains performance at bottomhole temperatures up to 180°C in HPHT sections. For threaded connections, SVK-1 (drill-pipe tool joints) and SVK-2 (tubing) deliver sealing and stuck-pipe protection during make-up and cyclic loading.
